The theme of this event is Welfare Rights and during the morning event we will hear presentations from two welfare policy specialists on content they feel is essential for you to know. There will be the opportunity to ask both speakers questions about specific cases or to seek clarity, and explore shared challenges on this complex topic with your peers from across the network.

Alan Bartlett, Income Maximisation Lead, IntoWork – offers a tailored update on the evolving welfare and benefit landscape for families, including some myth-busting.
Alan will cover UC earnings disregard, Scottish Child Payments, carers allowance, ADP, council tax reduction and much more.

Robyn Moffat-Wall, Senior Policy Lead, Aberlour Children’s Charity – shares ongoing work to eradicate public debt, covering many elements including council tax arrears, earnings arrestment and local authority powers.
Robyn will invite NEST network members to become involved in shaping debt recovery in Edinburgh. Some guidance on how to talk to clients about money worries and a short political update will be included, following the Scottish Election on 7 May.

Open Q&A session – both speakers will offer their expertise to answer any questions you have on current client cases or on any of themes presented.
