SPACE FOR CHANGE

Our next Space For Change course is starting up on Monday 28th September at Space @ The Broomhouse Hub.

Space For Change is a personal development and career-planning course for people over the age of 16+ who are unemployed, or looking to change career, living in Edinburgh into employment. All training is free of charge. Travel costs covered when required.

The group training looks at:

Building confidence
Health and wellbeing
Developing decision making skills
Coping with change
Communication and teamwork skills
Goal setting and Action Planning
Develop job-seeking skills
Develop digital skills & presentation skills

When: 12-week course on Mondays from 28th September – 14th December

Where: Space @ The Broomhouse Hub, 79/89 Broomhouse Crescent, EH11 3RH

Times: 9.30am -12.30pm

CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING

Customer Service Training 1 day workshop, also available as a stand-alone course. All training is free of charge.

Where: Space @ Broomhouse Hub

When: 21st September

Times: 9.30am-12.30pm

Who: This free course is for people over the age of 16+ who are unemployed or looking to change career living in Edinburgh.

Participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement on completing either course at the celebratory event on 14th December.

Please ensure that anyone interested in attending registers first, as we have limited spaces.

One-to-one guidance is also offered during and after the course to support participants in working towards their career goals, e.g. gaining experience, training skills etc.

Chances Gambling Harms Upskilling

The Chances Gambling Support team at Cyrenians have decided to make changes to the delivery and frequency of the online Gambling Harms upskilling sessions. We will now only be running the comprehensive combined session from August until November. This will include two short breaks and a longer lunch break at 12noon. However, we still offer bespoke online or in-person Gambling Awareness sessions to internal and external services if this is of interest. The upskilling is available to internal and external service providers and support services across Scotland including NHS Scotland, other public and third sector organisations. The session will be interactive and will include using case studies and a role playing exercise.

The upskilling is free to attend and will be delivered online via Zoom. Please ensure you have Zoom downloaded prior to whichever session you have booked to join. The Zoom link will be sent out via email from our team a few days before the upskilling session begins. Applications Open for Making Work Work

We are writing to share news of the welcome return of our award-winning employability programme, Making Work Work – for Edinburgh Women.

Funded by Capital City Partnership’s Local Growth Fund, the programme This aims to reduce economic inactivity among women returners and support women in work to upskill and increase earnings through CMI-recognised group training and one-to-one support.

The programme has five elements: Professional Skills Refresh, Events/masterclasses, Mentoring, Continuous learning, and Ongoing support. Between now and March 2027, we will work with women to increase their knowledge, confidence and networks, identify their existing skills and ideal work/life blend, and refresh their employability knowledge through support with applications, Cvs and interview readiness.

Applications are now open, with the first cohort starting at the end of August, and with spaces still available.

We’d love your support in spreading the word about Making Work Work to your service users and delivery partners. By doing so, you’ll help us reach women who could benefit from this opportunity to re-enter or progress in work, and become part of a lasting, supportive community.
