Employment Rights Act update event – ETUC Support@Work

Target audience is employability and employment advisors from organisations within the Local employability partnership in Edinburgh and NHS Staff at Astely Ainslie.

• Arrive from 9.30am – tea/coffee available
• 10am – Welcome and housekeeping
• 10.05am to 10.30am – outline of ERA  and previous employment law changes.
• 10.30am to 11.20am – main changes that could affect employability support staff supporting clients in non-unionised workplaces, and potentially those in the most precarious employment.
• BREAK 11.20am to 11.40am (with snacks)
• 11.45am to 12.15pm – UK Gov The Fair Work Agency: What does the UK Gov Fair Work Agency aim to do?
• 12.20pm to 12.50pm – Main changes for the trade union movement:
• Access to non-union workplaces
• Opportunities for unions and the role of S@W
• Can employability/employment advisors assist?
• Closing remarks – FINISH for 1pm.

Edinburgh TUC Support@Work was established in 2004 and is funded by Capital City Partnership, Lothian NHS and the STUC.  We are an employment rights and responsibilities project linked to Edinburgh Trade Union Council and supported by the STUC. The project is situated within union offices in York Place in Central Edinburgh.

Support@Work provides case work support and representation (where suitable) on employment rights to workers/employability service users being supported by NHS health professionals, disability support staff, and employability/employment advisers within Edinburgh. We are part of the Joined up for Jobs Network and Edinburgh’s Local Employment Partnership.
