We’re delighted to announce that the SOSCN School Age Childcare Support Fund is now open for applications.
SOSCN has secured up to £1 million from the Scottish Government to provide short-term financial support to families experiencing financial difficulty or a change in circumstances, helping them access or maintain school age childcare.
The Fund can provide up to 100% of eligible childcare fees for up to 12 weeks per child, including breakfast clubs, after school care and holiday care.
Support may be available where a family is struggling with childcare costs due to circumstances such as:
Care Inspectorate-registered daycare of children services providing school age childcare can apply on behalf of eligible families. Families do not apply directly to SOSCN. Applications should be made by an authorised person on behalf of the childcare service.
We have some links below for some resources to help you tell your families, including an email template text that you can edit and send to your families with information about the Fund. We also have a poster that can be emailed to families or printed and displayed at your service.
We’d also encourage you to share this information with your local schools, who may be able to help identify families who could be supported by the Fund.
If you have a family who you think may benefit from the Fund, speak to them about it. If they think the Fund could help, ask for their permission to apply on their behalf. You can then submit an application through the SOSCN online application portal.
We aim to make a decision on applications within 5 working days.
Please note, the website requires a new registration separate from your soscn.org login. You will be sent an automated email with a link to confirm your account. In most cases this will be received within a minute, however, this can sometimes take up to 10 minutes. Please check your spam folders for this too.
